The Pearl-bordered Fritillary is a fairly widespread but apparently declining species which is to be found in clearings and rides in deciduous forests. It is rather similar to some other species but can be identified from the underside of the hindwing which has a brick-red ground colour, a set of white pearls around the margin and a large white pearl in the centre of the discal row of otherwise pale yellow segments.
