The Pearly Heath is widespread but a long way short of being a common species like its cousin C.pamphilus. It has a lovely underside pattern with the splendid ocelli and the thick creamy stripe (you can pick out this stripe in flight.) It tends to fly in bushy, calcareous situations. I've seen the species in various locations flying from late May to early August but it is rare in my local area near Lyon.
